The Quite Deliberate Tourist

There are tourists in my town now. I wonder what they come to look at.

It can be difficult to see home with fresh eyes, and I love watching visitors to see what they admire and particularly what they take pictures of. On the way to work this afternoon I saw two backpackers photographing their friend rolling around on a carpet of orange and jacaranda flowers.

I walk through King G Square most mornings, and they take photos of the statues... the lions, kangaroos and those people from the Expo. usually, the adults have an arm around one, and the kids are straddling them (the statues, not the adults). they also like to have a photo standing in front of City Hall - oh look, it's a tall pointy thing! actually, I went up to the bell tower there recently, it's quite a good ride.

best one was when we turned the fountains off (water shortages here) and there was a flock of tourists looking startled and disoriented - omg, what am i going to take a photo of now??? true story.

Heh heh. I've been up the belltower a couple of times now and really enjoyed the view.
